At this point and time the services that Dr Kontzias provides are physician to physician, so recommendations are rendered to and followed through by the referring physician. If you request a comprehensive consultation the report will also be provided both to the referring physician so that he can follow up on your plan and to you the patient.

Dr Kontzias does not participate with Insurance Plans. PPO and Indemnity plans may cover our services, but you may be subject to copays, deductibles and co-insurance costs and it is the patient's and referring physician's responsibility to inquire with your insurance company for reimbursement according to your insurance’s out-of-network (OON) benefits policy. Dr Kontzias is not responsible for the amount of reimbursement from your insurance company.  Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept all major credit cards, Zelle and Venmo.

Yes. Any practicing physician or patient from anywhere in the world can contact us through the same initial process. Please take into account that Dr Kontzias is based in NY (EST Timezone). 

Medical expertise relates to prior experience with a respective diagnosis, exposure to a broad spectrum of diseases in the field of interest and similar fields such as infectious and hematologic diseases. Of essence is prior experience with variations of therapeutic responses which especially for rare conditions is invaluable. At the same time, the field of autoimmunity and autoinflammation is ever evolving and requires continuous upkeep of the cutting edge diagnostic and treatment tools. As a referring provider you can be assured that all of the above are met and you can take actionable steps towards your patient's well being.

There are times in clinical medicine especially in the field of immune mediated conditions that despite all clinically available diagnostic tools a definitive diagnosis cannot be made. In these cases close monitoring with appropriately selected clinical tools is warranted and in  certain cases further referral to appropriate for the case center with research capabilities is an option. Carefully selected empiric treatment may be necessary depending on severity of symptoms and if risk of complications from untreated disease outweighs the risk of side effects of medications. Pairing these challenging to diagnose patients with the right research group is of utmost importance. Patients often feel lost and rely on social media to identify the right physicians for them. In appropriately selected cases, Dr Kontzias would research and liaise with world experts  to further their care.
